The Tony Elumelu foundation 2019 finalists list was unmasked.
Over 3,000 applicants were selected from 54 African countries for the 20-19 cohort of their Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme out from the 216,000 filed applications.
Some of the parameters utilized in picking shortlisted applicants were clarified in this video and included:

Founder of TEF, Tony Elumelu stressed the importance of the private sector in the development of Africa’s economy. He noted that the small and medium scale enterprises were the main drivers of the economic transformation.
“nobody however us will build up our continent. The private sector has an integral part to play by doing this. It’s perhaps not the huge organizations that produce the difference, but the SMEs are famous for creating tasks, relieving poverty, so helping to bridge inequality gaps and who ensuring our women were more economically involved.”

The occasion which took place in Abuja had in attendance the Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, Wives of Governors of Kogi and Nasarawa State, and the founder, Tony Elumelu among many others.
